Youth Formation - The Eucharist
Important Announcement
Hello everyone, hope you’re doing well. We are excited to announce that this week will be our last online session. Starting next week, we will be meeting at St. Boniface in the hall every week through the end of May.
YOUCAT: Question 208: What is Holy Eucharist?
Holy Eucharist is the sacrament in which Jesus Christ gives his Body and Blood—himself—for us, so that we too might give ourselves to him in love and be united with him in Holy Communion. In this way we are joined with the one Body of Christ, the Church.

To receive credit for this week’s session, watch this short video about the Eucharist and answer the questions in the quiz below.

The YOUCAT #347 says the following:
Agreement between ones life and one’s witness is the first requirement for proclaiming the Gospel. Not practicing what you profess is therefore- hypocrisy, a betrayal of the Christian duty to be “salt of the earth” and “light of the world”
John the Baptist is a perfect example of being light in the world. Fulfilling his mission and leaving a mark.
How can you be light in world?

Youth Formation - March Week 1 - the John the Baptist
Part 1:

Last month we opened up the month with a clip from Spider man 3. Peter asked the sandman for forgiveness. Prior to that forgiveness Peter realized that having “the black suit” was changing the real person that he was.

Although feeling really good about himself in that black suit what do you think made Peter want to change?
Hello everyone this month we start our next encounter with another important person in the bible. This month we are going to be learning about someone very close to Jesus. John the Baptist was the cousin of Jesus who’s main responsibility was to prepare and make ready the way for Jesus the Messiah.

Please make sure that for this week you are writing in your Journal on pages 51-53.
Part 2:

After learning about Jesus and forgiveness last month. Jesus asks us to take the next step with him. To change. Forgiveness is important but part of that forgiveness is also realizing that there are things that we have to change in order to deepen the relationship with him. John the Baptist helps us prepare the way for this change.

What are some things that you feel you need to change about yourself in order to have a better relationship with Jesus?
Part 3:

In 1986, when Homeboy Industries’ founder, Gregory Boyle became pastor of Dolores Mission Church, it was the poorest Catholic parish in Los Angeles. The parish included Aliso Village and Pico Gardens, then the largest public housing projects west of the Mississippi. They also had the highest concentration of gang activity. That was saying something, given Los Angeles’ reputation as the gang capital of the world.

At the time, law enforcement tactics of suppression and criminal justice policies of mass incarceration were the prevailing means to deal with gang violence. But where others only saw criminals, Father Greg saw people in need of help. Today, Homeboy Industries is the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world, welcoming thousands through our doors each year.

Why do you think all the people that talked in the video were able to change? What do you think that they felt? How do you think they feel right now? How do you think the people that helped these people change felt?
Part 4:

Next week we will learn more about the cousin of Jesus. From his jail cell John the Baptist will talk to us about his life growing up with Jesus, and the moment that he baptized Jesus.
As he is going back through all these memories, he is preparing for his death. Before you meet him next week, please watch the following short video and read his story on page 49 and 50 in your journal. Use method #3 found on page 10 in your journal as you read the story and answer the questions in your journal.
